In a high-risk corridor near Deer Park Road, Napa Firewise completed a major fuels reduction project to safeguard critical utilities and restore access routes. The area had suffered extensive tree loss from the 2020 Glass Fire, prolonged drought, and aging stands of overcrowded, non-native trees.
Crews cleared hazardous fuels and reopened the access road from the main project area to Deer Park Road, which had been blocked by numerous downed trees. In total, approximately 100 cubic yards of material were chipped and broadcast, while larger woody debris was safely piled and burned under management oversight. St. Helena Hospital supported the final handling of burn piles to ensure safe disposal.
This work not only reduces wildfire risk around vital infrastructure but also helps restore forest health in a severely impacted landscape.
