Across Napa County, Fire Safe Councils unite residents around practical wildfire solutions. With countywide coordination, resources, and guidance from Napa Firewise, volunteer energy becomes funded projects, resident education, and Firewise USA® community recognition.

What do FSCs do

  • Develop Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs) to set local priorities and unlock funding
  • Organize fuel reduction and defensible space projects, with home‑hardening guidance for residents
  • Provide education and emergency readiness through meetings, trainings, and community work days
  • Partner with Napa County Fire/CAL FIRE and Napa Firewise to turn plans into action

In 2020, Napa Firewise and Napa County organized the county into 31 neighborhood areas to seed local councils as depicted in the county map. Today, there are 22 established FSCs, 18 of which are Firewise recognized—and growing.
